Tiber Health Innovation Launches MD Tutor, Bringing AI-Powered Individualized Learning to Universities

LOUIS, Missouri, Nov. 5, 2026 — Tiber Health Innovation (THI) today announced that MD Tutor, an AI tutor and the first application of its new Tiber Tutor™ platform, is now available to universities and health sciences programs worldwide. The announcement coincides with the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) Annual Conference, Nov. 3–6 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where THI and its longtime research partner, Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU), are showcasing the technology.

MD Tutor provides personalized academic support through text, voice and lifelike video avatars. Unlike general-purpose AI chatbots, MD Tutor draws on curated knowledge bases built from PHSU's MD curriculum to help students understand complex concepts, reinforce coursework and learn at their own pace. THI can also incorporate an institution's own course content to create a custom AI tutor for its programs. Built on THI's AI, cloud and analytics infrastructure, the Tiber Tutor platform enables institutions to extend individualized learning support beyond the classroom.

Addressing a 40-Year Challenge in Education

In 1984, educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom published The 2 Sigma Problem, demonstrating that students receiving one-on-one tutoring substantially outperformed those in conventional classroom instruction. His research challenged educators to find ways to deliver individualized instruction at scale. Advances in artificial intelligence are now creating new opportunities to address that challenge.

Developed Through a Research-Driven Partnership

MD Tutor builds on THI's research collaboration with PHSU, which began in 2017. In 2023, the organizations published research in the peer-reviewed journal Academic Medicine demonstrating that performance in PHSU's Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program, combined with predictive analytics, was more accurate in predicting USMLE Step 1 outcomes than MCAT scores alone for the medical students studied.

MD Tutor is already used by students in PHSU's medicine, dental and nursing programs, as well as by students in the MSMS program offered through PHSU and its university partners across the United States. In March 2026, THI and PHSU introduced MD Tutor through a closed beta involving PHSU medical students. The new launch expands availability to additional universities and health sciences programs.
